When you start working out, your body requires time to get used to it. You’ll be in severe pain the next day and there will be tons of sweat for sure. But if you’re interested to check out some trekking sites with your friends and you don’t know how to start. Here are some guidelines that can help you get through your first hike:

  1. Choose the right hike: If you haven’t done your research properly, then you’re probably gonna suffer and hate it. Start with short and easy walks and then you can work your way up. Hike with people or a group of friends. The key factors to consider are distance, elevation change and type of terrain.

  2. Wear layered clothing: A dependable waterproof jacket is crucial - don’t forget to wear a hat even though it could be sunny or rainy. Optimal outdoor clothing protects you from the elements and regulates body temperature while being lightweight, durable and comfortable.

  3. Carry a comfortable backpack: Don’t overpack your bag because you’re gonna regret that decision once you start working your way up. Bring the essentials - and get a backpack that has strong harness that suits your body weight.

  4. Eat and drink well: Food is your energy here, and you need to keep on eating while you’re working up the trail. Stay hydrated and for overnight stays, there are many types of food that are easy for you to cook.

  5. Navigate carefully: As this is your first time hiking, always carry a map because there may be times where your GPS won’t be working. A topographical map is essential for wilderness hiking; learn how to read it and navigate using a compass.

  6. Read the weather report: The weather conditions can affect a hiker’s mood because if it’s too rainy, you probably won’t have any fun. Or not you could be sweating too much and that could cause a heatstroke.

  7. Plan for a safe return: Inform people that you’ll be going for a hike and if you don’t return, they can start searching for you and be aware that you’re missing. Don’t forget to bring the first aid kit because that could be crucial for longer trips.

And the last thing to add to the list is, don’t forget to have fun and enjoy the fresh breath of air into your lungs!
